This is a great mid range product from Masport who are renowned for their no nonsense mowers. We have stocked the Masport brand from New Zealand now for over 20 years and they offer rugged yet tough mowers, packed with features at a very affordable price. The 500AL is another example and represents one of the best value aluminium bodied machines available on the UK market. As well as being tough aluminium body last much longer than steel ones, and typically offer 15-20 year life spans. Like the 300AL this model is equipped with swing tipped blades that help prevent damage to the engine crankshaft if you should strike something solid. A particularly useful feature for contractors and those cutting rougher areas on a regular basis. It is also much cheaper to replace one or two swing tips when necessary as opposed to an entire solid bar blade. Where the 500 model represents a real step up is the 190cc Briggs & Stratton XVS 675 Quantum engine. This makes the machine sturdy enough to stand up to light contract work or large gardens. This model offers 18"/46cm cut, B&S XVS 675 engine,190cc, aluminium deck, plastic 46 liter grass catcher, height adjustment on a single lever from just 10mm to 70mm and a weight of 30kg.
